Reginald Parrish, born in Richmond in 1890, attended St. John's National School. He enlisted in the Royal Fusiliers as a military bandsman. His service took him to India before his battalion was recalled for World War One. They were deployed to the Dardanelles Campaign, and Reginald was wounded after the X Beach landing on April 25, 1915. His account of his experiences in the first boats at Sedd el Bahr was published in the Richmond & Twickenham Times in 1915, after his brother Horace submitted a letter Reginald had sent him.

Son's Burma Campaign Service

Following his military service, convalescence, and post-war employment, Reginald settled in Oxhey, Watford. His son, Ted Parrish, later followed in his father's military footsteps. Ted served in the Royal Air Force during World War Two, undertaking service on the Indian sub-continent in the Burma Campaign.
